COLMENARES VILATA ARQUITECTOS is a Madrid-based architectural firm founded in 2001. The studio undertakes a wide range of projects, guided by a strong focus on material culture and a commitment to adapting each design to the needs of both the client and the end user. Its work spans various scales and programs—from large public spaces to intimate domestic environments—always rooted in a careful reading of the site and its context.
Led by Silvia Colmenares and Jaime Galmés, the practice operates as a collaborative platform that brings together a network of consultants and regular collaborators. This structure allows the firm to provide tailored, expert responses across diverse fields, ensuring the highest quality in every project. The studio emphasizes a direct, close relationship with clients, supported by visual communication strategies that leverage tools such as BIM modeling.
Its body of work arises from a balanced combination of public competition entries and commissions for private clients. The firm has developed experience in a variety of areas, including renovation and adaptive reuse, residential architecture, and interior design.
This core activity is complemented by collaborations on international corporate projects, where the firm acts as Architect of Record (AoR) for global clients operating within Spain.
Silvia Colmenares (Madrid, 1974) is an architect (1999) and PhD (2015, cum laude, ETSAM Mention) from the School of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM), where she has taught architectural design since 2008.
Jaime Galmés (Oviedo, 1972) is an architect (1998) and holds a Master’s degree in Architectural Restoration (2003), both from ETSAM at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
